HRG is currently investigating the viability of various charter options for travel into Africa:
• The viability of Fractional Ownership for SA and Africa (where corporates buy a share of an aeroplane, which is managed by a charter company). This is different from a normal syndicated purchase (where a jet is simply bought by a group of people), since there are a number of guarantees, service level stipulations etc that come into play that are outside the scope of a normal shared purchase.
• A Jetcard type system, where a certain amount of charter hours are bought upfront by a company to use within a stipulated period on a “use it or lose it” basis.
• Normal Chartering options.
• "Scheduled" charter options - where we look at corporate demand for under-serviced routes, and see if a scheduled charter service is a viable option for this.
• Developing a model to calculate the cost-benefit option of a charter vs. a scheduled airline on specific routes.
